Sales between individuals - Transact in Foreign Countries

If the vessel is registered in another country (e.g.: the United States - Certificate of documentation, France - Acte de francisation, etc.), the transfer of ownership must be completed under the rules and conditions of the foreign authorities as well as the Canadian authorities; otherwise, even though you have the boat in your possession, your seller remains the sole official owner.

The above comment is to be seriously considered for any purchase or sale with someone other than a Canadian, whether the vessel is sailing or not in Canada.

Verification,  in the foreign country, on the vessel and on its owner is important to ensure the transfer terms, the seller property quality of title and the debts possibly existing against the vessel.
